Best of 2016

Let’s kick off 2017 with some retrospective. But first, an explanation. In 2017 I plan to blog more: write more reviews, comparisons, do #FOTD or #EOTD type of posts… things like that. But for that to work I need to focus on you, dear readers.

Let’s see which posts you liked the most in 2016.

Blogsmas-header

1. December Destash Goodies

In this post I talked about some of the first perfume oil samples that I’d received. Although I haven’t used it recently, Anna is still one of my favourites. I still believe it’s a perfect blend of gourmand and floral notes on a sandalwood base that doesn’t go weirdly dry on my skin. I’m actually waiting for a full-sized bottle of this – it was also bought in a Sunday swap and is now *somewhere* in Europe. I don’t want to turn this into a rant so let’s just say I’m getting really impatient with the post!

I have found a new owner for Smelly Yeti Dame It, while Lou Lou’s Fruit Basket Cider stays at my place, waiting to be picked up. Honestly, I’ve acquired so many bottles and samples in 2016 that FBC got sidetracked but I plan to wear it on damp(er) days (it’s been dry as in a desert here).

2. Taste Test – Activlab Breakfast Protein

Taste tests are something I plan to return to once I get back into fitness (it’s a long story, nearly ripe for a proper, dedicated blog post). The idea here is to try various foods marketed as “fit”, “healthy”, “delicious” options for bodybuilders or simply people that want to reduce their sugar/carb intake but still have fun, lovely meals. Activlab Breakfast Protein was one of such brekkie options but I plan to review protein bars and shakes, too.

3. Inspiration Food

How appropriate for new year resolutions! This one was about finding the right time to start something. Most people choose 1 January to make that big change in their life but I believe you should do that whenever you feel ready. December’s a right bitch when it comes to healthy eating, negating your efforts as you go, so January makes sense if you want to start dieting. I’m cringing at myself as I write this but I plan to start over in the first month of 2017.

Honourable mentions:

  1. Going Strong or How to Eat Loads and Stay Slim
  2. Lipstick Brand of the Month: Hello Waffle
  3. I’ve Updated My Nailcare Routine!

Thanks to everyone for sticking with me and reading my blog! What kind of posts would you like to read in the future?

Blogmas #18: Memories over Macros

This has been on my mind for the past couple of days if not the whole month of December. As time moves on, tracking macros is getting harder and harder. Not because I would be trying to lose weight but because I’m bulking, and I think there really is no reason to keep it all on point. I don’t feel frustrated, just lazy.

Blogmas #9: Taste Test – Activlab Breakfast Protein

Today’s post (okay I was supposed to post it yesterday but life got in the way :P) is going to be a little different this time round. I want this blog to be also a place where gym-going people find information on protein-rich food.

Are you interested in an oatmeal breakfast with a twist? Read on.

Blogmas #6: Sunday Recap

Another Sunday, another recap-style post! I have found some interesting articles (and videos) that I would really like to share with you. Enjoy!

Going strong or how to eat loads and stay slim

Here is an update on my progress in reverse dieting. I must say that it feels mostly good and that I’m glad I went on this journey without knowing where exactly it will take me.

New In #1

These are the products I’ve bought recently. As you can see, it’s a mix of beauty and fitness items so hopefully everyone will find something interesting to check out. Please bear in mind it’s my first time doing anything like this so the post might not be as coherent as it’s supposed to be. The pictures aren’t stellar, I know, but they will look better once I edit them on my laptop. 🙂

New adventures ahead!

As you’re reading this, I’m on my way to a nicer part of the world. I’m going to the Croatian seaside! So this is why this post will be short but sweet (yes, it’s scheduled).

I had a tough day at work, having to take care of everything by 4 pm. I also needed to buy some tidbits for the trip and pack up for ten days or so. I’ve discovered that most my shorts didn’t fit me any more, all of them were too big. This is what happens when you lose a few centimetres round your waist but you forget to check whether any of old shorts still fit. Oh well, I guess I’ll look like a clown, wearing oversized clothes. But summer getaways are great for wearing clothes you’re too shy to wear back home, right?

Spicin’ it up

TGIF. Today was my fourth workout this week and the first time I worked my calves since the end of the Maxx Fit Contest over a week ago. It’s hard to get back into the groove after nearly a week of not working out, and since calves are my weak point, it was all the more difficult to find the energy necessary.

For some reason, I’m always freezing when doing calves – maybe because it’s only a tiny body part I’m working on – so I need to dress super warm for it. It was no different this time round so I tried to do reps as fast as possible in order not to cool down. Worry not, I did every set with care and no muscles were torn! 🙂

Maxx Fit after Maxx Fit 2015

Hello, I guess I’m back in action once again, now on a new website*.

I participated in a fit contest and one of the requirements was to write a blog about my progress, including my workouts and meals. And guess what? I got so used to writing about my daily life over the past four months that now, when the contest’s nearly officially over, there is something missing in my life. Sure, I have other, more important things to write about but I suppose there’s nothing like writing about your daily shenanigans.

I don’t think I will post every single day but once every week should be manageable, right? Except that this time round, I won’t be writing only about fitness, or knitting, I’ll also try to include some other things like concerts, random thoughts, make-up maybe… Things like that. Whatever sparks my interest and keeps my creativity juices flowing, haha.

And to keep you interested, here’s the topic for my next post: London!

*You can find my old blog at bunnyechoes.blogspot.com. What are my reasons for moving? One of them is that I barely updated my old blog, which has been set up 6 years ago. It never had any specific purpose and the posts were published only now and then. I’m considering this a fresh start and a new blog seemed very fitting. Another reason is that once I changed the URL of my old blog, Bloglovin wouldn’t find its feed and I don’t want to spend time waiting for their reply to my e-mail query. Yes, I’m impatient!

Here’s to a fresh start!
