First Impressions: Lotique, Sephora and Benefit

Hello, everyone! Today I would like to share with you my first first-impression post! I’ve recently received some of these products for free at the BBMU conference, and others were bought at Sephora. I’ve only tried them a couple of times so these reviews are by no means exhaustive but I hope they give you a general idea of how these products behave. For reference; I have combination skin (normal cheeks and oily T-zone), my skin tone falls into the NW15 range (I think), my lips tend to be dry while my eyelids tend to be oily. My eyelashes are proper divas that refuse to stay curled, they’re long and relatively thick.

C20 Tetraforce Activator – the Serum that Impressed Me

C20 Tetraforce Activator by Add Actives

Everyone has at least one holy grail item in their skincare cabinet, am I right? I believe I might have found mine! According to Add Actives, the C20 Tetraforce Activator is »one of the highest quality Vitamin C Concentrates available«. It’s supposed to have a gentle but effective formula that acts against hyperpigmentation, uneven texture and skin tone, fine lines and other concerns we stumble upon as our skin starts to age. It contains an antioxidant called ascorbyl tetraisopalmitate, which is actually a vitamin C derivative.

Recently, the brand owner gave away C20 Tetraforce Activator samples as thanks for the contribution to one of their questionnaires. I was happy to receive my sample very fast and I started using it that same day.

Aikon, Adria Media, Alterna Haircare, Ars Florae Gardenia, Afrodita, Avon, Catrice, Essence, Fidimed, Honor, Ličila.si, Le Couvent des Minimes, L’Occitane, Lotique, Makeup Revolution, Medex, Med in mleko, Melvita, Nelipot, Olaplex, Philips, Rauch Fresh, S.Oliver, Smile Concept Store, Sisinger21, The Body Shop, Vivaderm, Vichy in Yankee Candle.

Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab: Eostre of the Dawn

In American Gods (Neil Gaiman, 2001), Eostre appears as the Germanic goddess of the dawn. After the show American Gods aired in April 2017, Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab released a collection of perfumes inspired by Gaiman’s novel. One of these perfumes is called Eostre of the Dawn.

“Old English Ēostre continues into modern English as Easter and derives from Proto-Germanic *Austrǭ, itself a descendant of the Proto-Indo-European root *h₂ews-, meaning ‘to shine’ (modern English east also derives from this root).” –Wikipedia

Find Eostre of the Dawn on the Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab website; $26.

The Description

Crow & Pebble: Eyeshadow Swatches, Review & Looks

Of all the indie brands currently on the scene, Crow & Pebble is probably the youngest one, being launched in May 2017. Hailing from Scotland, Crow & Pebble’s eyeshadow products are inspired by literature and contain vegan and cruelty-free ingredients (non-vegan ingredients are labelled as such). Moreover, the micas come from places where child labour is not exploited.

I chose a variety of colours in order to test the waters: a warm brown/aqua duochrome (Petrochemical Sheen), a pinky red (Atreides), a neutral beige (Harkonnen) and a Mystery Case with an assortment of five different samples. All the eyeshadows I ordered were in sample size with the exception of Petrochemical Sheen. I knew I would love it so I ordered a half-jar of it straight away.

Mystery Case (5 samples): £4 [here]

Petrochemical Sheen (half-jar): £3 [here]

Harkonnen: £1 [here]

Atreides: £1 [here]

Standard shipping: £3

DISCOUNT ALERT! Get 20% off your entire order with the code PHOTOFUN. Valid until 29 September 2017. Disclaimer: I’m not affiliated with the brand in any way.

I’ve placed my order on 18 July and the package was shipped on 31 July. It might seem a lot but you have to keep in mind Crow & Pebble is a small business where everything is made by hand. I was satisfied with the package; everything was securely wrapped to minimise any potential damages.

The Eyeshadow Swatches

These Crow & Pebble swatches were done over an Etude House primer with Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy applied on the left half of the forearm. The eyeshadows were applied with a flat shader brush and the photos were taken indoors in indirect sunlight.

Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab: Art of the Unicorn Perfumes

Most people love perfumes. Most people probably love unicorns. What wouldn’t we give in order to see one? Who wouldn’t want to see this magical creature? What if I told you that while unicorns might not exist, their idea has been encapsulated in perfume oils?

Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab, a brand I have already introduced over here, released a special collection in the summer of 2016. They called it Art of the Unicorn and dedicated it to eternal hope that doesn’t fade even during the darkest times. We all need a reminder that not everything is violent, dark, confusing, and these perfumes serve as a delightful manner to counteract all the negativity.

So far, two parts of this series have been released so far and the third one is still waiting in the Lab for its time to come forth and shine. There can never be enough hope.
