Favourite Makeup Discoveries of 2016

This post is way overdue. I’ve been having it on my mind for the longest time but sadly couldn’t post it any time sooner. In early 2016, I started using more makeup and relatives quickly found some of my favourite makeup items that I love using this year, too. Some are part of the daily rotation while others are meant for special occasions only. Any way you look at them – they’re my favourites!

Hello Waffle Lavender Cream Liquid Highlighter

This is such a versatile highlighter that I can’t help but love it. It can be very, very subtle but it can also be packed on for a very noticeable, shimmery effect. It’s cool-toned so folks with warm undertones might not appreciate it that much. However, it should work fine if used sparingly. Check my review and swatches here.

NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation

This foundation stole my heart back in February 2016 but I only started using it in November. It truly is a weightless foundation because it feels like second skin and you don’t need to apply a lot of it to achieve medium-to-full coverage. I apply three drops, tops. While it’s called luminous, I find it to be more matte but then it’s not chalky or heavy, especially if you apply it to well-moisturised skin.

November Favourites

November, probably the third* dullest month is gone and done. It’s finally got really cold outside and in my opinion that’s a good enough reason to stay indoors, drink copious amounts of tea and watch TV series. Really, why would anyone want to go outside to freeze their socks off?

Favourite Makeup Skincare and Perfume in November

However, there were some make-up, perfumes and skincare products that made getting ready for work (or going to sleep) much easier. This is my first favourites post, in which I will describe some things that I liked using the most in the past month. Enjoy the ride!

(Psst, there are swatches, too!)

Femme Fatale – Tiger Lily

In April 2016 the Australian company called Femme Fatale released the Enchanted Fables collection, which was inspired by heroines from numerous classic fairy tales.

I’ve Updated My Nailcare Routine!

This post deserves a disclaimer straight away: my nails aren’t in their best condition and they haven’t really improved from last year. From a regular bystander’s point of view, their ridges surely signify that something’s wrong with me? Well, as luck might have it, my nails have been ridged ever since I was born so I suppose it’s just their natural state.

Why Indie Cosmetics?

As you’ve probably noticed already, I’m rather keen on alternative, independent beauty products. I discovered this post on Reddit a long while back and I decided to write a proper blog post about it in case anyone wondered why I decided to go down this rabbithole.

Blogmas #19: Zoya Naked Manicure

Anyone who knows me also knows that I take great pride in my hands. That moment when I twisted my middle finger (and never had it straightened) was truly sad because it spoiled my otherwise perfect looking hands (yes, I love the way they are constructed and I’m not ashamed to admit it).

So why are my nails looking so sad now? They’re not weak but they do peel like mofos and I don’t know how to improve their state. I take omega-3 pills, and I’ve limited my intake of shitty food. And yet my nails don’t look any better.

Thankfully, I’ve discovered Zoya’s Naked Manicure kit, and decided to give it a go. So does it really improve the state of nails? Continue reading and you shall see!
