Sometimes you need a kick in the bum to start writing long-overdue reviews. Sometimes they’re really not pleasant but other times they come in the form of perfume. Arcana Craves released the Strawberries Crave collection just over a week ago, so I thought I’d better post a few reviews of the perfumes I’d tried way, way back.
As I said the Part #1, these perfume decants were purchased by me (or received in swaps) in the last four years. I’ve already used up or destashed all of these Strawberries but I did try to review them in a coherent manner. These reviews weren’t meant to be published, so please excuse the lack of original photos, and any weird turn of phrase or inaccuracy.
I hope you find these Arcana Strawberries Crave reviews helpful!
Strawberries Crave Pie
Pink and red strawberries with tender pie crust, vanilla bean, and a sprinkling of brown and white sugars.
From the vial, a realistic fresh, sweet strawberry scent emanates. Just behind it floats an aroma of the buttery crust. As I apply it on skin, the strawberries become more candy-like. They’re sugared, after all. I can smell the crust and sugar really well at this stage. Can I get a YUM?
As time wears on, the strawberries lose their fruity freshness and become even more sugary. This is also the only note I can still smell a few hours in. Once we’re past the six hour mark, I get a weird, faint not-quite-ripe vegetable scent, which is strange.
Strawberries Crave Pie lasts more than six hours if you don’t apply it sparingly. To be more precise, I can smell it on and around me for the first two hours or so but then I need to bring my wrist up to the nose to detect it.
Strawberries Crave Pie is available here for $18 USD.
Strawberries Crave Terror
Deep red strawberries with Arcana Wildcraft’s legendary Holy Terror (burning frankincense, sandalwood, deep myrrh, and dusty beeswax candles).
As I apply it on my wrist, I’m met with strawberries, frankincense, and lush patchouli. Possibly myrrh, too. I’m having trouble recognising this note in general. The perfume kind of verges on smelling like burnt plastic but it, luckily, stays out of that territory. The strawberries make it sweet.
I was afraid this would turn into a plastic!fest but it stays on the lovely side. I’ll explore the Terror collection a bit more if possible.
… And possible it was! You’ve already read my review of Pumpkins Crave Nog, which also features Holy Terror, and I have a review of Vanilla Craves Terror in the making.
Strawberries Crave Terror is available here for $18 USD.
Strawberries Crave Snow
Ripe red strawberries with Arcana Wildcraft’s Snow accord (layers of gourmand vanilla are shot through with ice crystals, coconut sugar, and a tiny teacup of polar eggnog).
When I smell it from the vial, I can only say one thing: what a lovely blast of eggnog! This perfume is surprisingly creamy and warm, despite the Snow accord. There’s but a hint of strawberries, and I hope they come out to play on the skin.
As the oil hits my wrists, the sweet, ripe strawberries show up, wonderfully blended with the vanilla and eggnog from the Snow accord. It’s an intriguing, gentle gourmand scent but not warm or overly foody, unlike Strawberries Crave Pie.
Once the perfume dries, the strawberries disappear for a while, leaving behind the Snow accord, which I, sadly, don’t like on its own. Luckily for me, the strawberries reappear, making the scent nice again!
Strawberries Crave Snow isn’t available at this point but it might turn up later.
Strawberries Crave Waterfalls
Rain, woodland strawberries, fresh water, petitgrain, osmanthus, clover, and smooth amber.
First I get the water and clover, all very fresh and clear with a tiny hint of strawberries.
As soon as it’s applied, the woodland strawberries come to the fore, slightly overshadowing the clover and water. Still, Strawberries Crave Waterfalls remains watery fresh and subtly sweet, thanks to the floral fruity osmanthus. The amber is very subdued, almost undetectable.
I haven’t used this one long enough to form more of an opinion. I liked it but I prefer other fresh, aquatic scents.
Strawberries Crave Waterfalls is available here for $18 USD.
There you go! These are the Strawberry Crave scents I’ve tried so far. The second time round, I’ve bought Strawberries Crave Rococo and received Strawberries Crave Incense as a freebie, so I’ll be reviewing these two scents, too.
Which ones would you like to try?
