Blogmas #4: Something Old, Something New

Today I want to show you two items that have worn quite often in the past few days. As the title of this post suggests, one of them is relatively old while the other is definitely new.

Something Old

These are my beloved Docs. I don’t remember the exact model number but it’s definitely one of the Pascals (8 eyelet). I’ve had them since autumn 2012 and they’re definitely my favourite pair of shoes. I wear them a lot and the fact that they still look nice and not-too-beaten tells you something about their quality. I’ve never got a single blister from walking in them and they’ve kept my otherwise icy-cold feet really warm. Now I’m thinking of getting another pair but this time it’s going to be a black patent leather style. If I manage to get an immaculate pair, that is. For some reason, the ones I tried in the shop (brand new, in fact) were already damaged!

Something New

Surprise, surprise. I love Jasmine-Immortelle-Neroli EDT. It was designed by Olivier Baussan and Pierre Herme, two French masterminds in their own right. It’s definitely a feminine, floral scent, which isn’t overly sweet and not at all citrusy, despite the top notes of lemon. Basically, I could bathe in this scent (as it turns out, it’s totally possible, hehe). I find the sillage average but that is a good thing – I don’t want to choke everyone with my fragrance, no matter how nice it smells. 😉 It lasts from 4 to 6 hours on my skin, which I find excellent, but I haven’t yet found the right formula to make it last longer.

Stay tuned for the next installment: Something Borrowed, Something Blue!

  1. Hey!

Oh, I love your Docs! And that L’Occitane ‘Eau De Toilette’ really looks wonderful!
I just gotta hand it to you – your photos look incredible, truly! 😀 Do you mind uncovering your secret and telling me which editing programme you use? (it’s completely fine if you don’t want to share that info with me, haha)

    Lovely post!

Hope you have a great day. 🙂

    1. Hi!
Thank you for your lovely comment, you made me blush. 🙂 I use VSCO Cam on my iPhone 5S but if I don’t want to fuss over the filters, I take the photos straight to Photoshop and edit them there. Usually I only fix their brightness and contrast or add a cool/warm filter if white balance is way off (or too normal – that depends on what effect I want to achieve). The header is from Unsplash, though, there’s no way I could achieve that level of coolness with my measly phone!
      Have a great day yourself!
      -N xx

  2. So glad I stumbled upon your post — you’ve reminded me of my Docs that are lost somewhere in my overflowing closet. I need to pull those babies out for a breather; it’s been at least two years since I’ve worn them! Shame on me LOL.

    1. Oh no! Go get them and take them out for a stroll. 🙂 The good thing about them is that they somehow remain stylish even after several years so yours should be as good as new. 😉
