Notoriously Morbid: Vanishing Cabinet April 2018

April’s Vanishing Cabinet was inspired by the film called Legend. This subscription box included four eyeshadows and a tinted Sinister Sprite lip balm.

On an unrelated note – this is my first post written using the new WordPress editor. It’s quite a bit different from the old one, so I’m still learning its tricks!

Notoriously Morbid Vanishing Cabinet April 2018

Below, you can see all the Vanishing Cabinet April 2018 swatches. They were done in indirect sunlight. I very slightly edited the white balance to showcase true colours as best as possible. The swatches were done over the Etude House Proof 10 Eye Primer and the Hello Waffle Enchantment glitter glue (left half).  The lip balm was applied on clean, clear skin.

Risk Your Immortal Soul

A bright pink shadow with purple shimmer and bright green to silver sparkles.

Now, this is a super bright pink, I’d go as far as to call it a bright fuchsia. The icy sparkles create a statement – this definitely isn’t a shadow for everyone.

Goblin Paradise

A coral based shadow with silver to green and purple shimmer with gold sparkles.

This is a very pretty, delicate pink eyeshadow. The gold sparkles aren’t really there; they appear to be more silvery and icy.

Such a Mortal

A warm based brown shadow with an antique gold shimmer and warm gold sparkles.

A neutral with a twist, Such a Mortal is more or less true to its description. This antique gold shimmer is unique to my collection but the shadow works fine even without glitter glue. This way, it stays matte – a good crease shadow.

What Is Light Without Dark?

A matte black shadow with warm red shimmer and red sparkles.

This is probably the darkest loose eyeshadow I own. 😀 This is blue-toned black with pinkish shimmer. It works fine over glitter glue but it’s a bit difficult to blend it out at the edges.

Dark Dance

A cherry and berry flavoured Sinister Sprite Lip Balm tinted a dark rich blackened berry red.

This Sinister Sprite Lip Balm looks very, very dark in the tube – it’s almost black. On lips, however, it’s dark berry red, just like the description says. It’s a shame that it’s so patchy – I’d wear it constantly otherwise. Then again, it’s just a tinted lip balm so I’d have to pick a lipstick if I wanted the colour to be more visible on my lips.

Save for What Is Light Without Dark?, they’re very blendable and they don’t crease for the first 7 or 8 hours. They’re not as patchy as some from the March 2018 Vanishing Cabinet.

All in all, I think Notoriously Morbid Vanishing Cabinet April 2018 was okay but the pink trend started to worry me. Such a Mortal and Goblin Paradise are relatively similar to the March 2018 edition eyeshadows, and it doesn’t take a lot of shadows in a similar colour range to make me feel overwhelmed. Let’s see what future editions of Vanishing Cabinet have in store.

Stay tuned for my review of the May edition of the Vanishing Cabinet. 🙂 You can find the February Vanishing Cabinet here.
