Notoriously Morbid Vanishing Cabinet: March 2018

Another month, another Vanishing Cabinet box! The March edition was based on the film called Talladega Nights. This is a sport comedy I haven’t seen yet so the references didn’t really come across. However, all the shadows and the lip balm looked interesting enough that I didn’t mind!

Notoriously Morbid Vanishing Cabinet March 2018

Called “Shake & Bake”, this Vanishing Cabinet consisted of shimmery and sparkly eyeshadows and an untinted lip balm. I feel that the colours were cohesive enough to create a look combining all the shadows (but to be honest, I prefer one-and-done shadows and that’s what I tend to wear 80% of the time).

Included in the package was also an Atomic Fire Ball, which tasted of cinnamon. I wasn’t a fan! That aside, let’s move on to the individual shades (and the lip balm).

Crystal Gayle Shirt

A stark matte white with gold, red, and blue sparkles.

I was never a big fan of white eyeshadows because I think my skintone clashes with super bright, white shadows. Crystal Gayle Shirt is a cool-toned white with some gold and red sparkles. I believe the blue ones are what gives this shadow a cool hue. It works well as an inner corner highlight.

(Excuse the messy swatch.)

I Love Crepes

A deep taupe with an orange sheen and gorgeous sparkles.

This eyeshadow works really well as an all-over shade, especially if you’re a fan of neutral looks with a twist! I believe I Love Crepes would look especially well on people with a cooler undertone. The sparkles don’t apply super evenly but it doesn’t bother me.

Help Me, Tom Cruise

A dark violet matte base with a sparkling copper sheen.

Help Me, Tom Cruise is the prettiest, but also the most difficult eyeshadow to use. You can see how the copper sparkles/shimmer takes over when you really pat it over Pixie Epoxy but in most cases, it applies in patches so you can see the violet base peeking through. I don’t mind that too much but I would love this eyeshadow even more had it not been for this drawback.

Cross Over The Anger Bridge

A light coral with a dark golden sheen and copper and orange red sparkles.

The coral part of this eyeshadow is nearly overshadowed by the golden and copper sheen. In fact, the shadow looks more coppery than coral. However, it’s a gorgeous colour that can be used to create a lovely warm-toned look that’s been so popular for the past year. I believe it will be quite the workhorse come autumn.

All Jacked Up

A lemon lime citrus flavord Night Kiss Lip Balm.

This is the first Notoriously Morbid lip balm I’ve ever tried and I have mixed feelings about it. The smell, especially during the first few uses, was terrible – it reminded me of lemon-scented detergent! The weird scent aside, I like the formula because it’s soft but it stays on the lips to moisturise them for a long while. The formula contains a variety of oils and butters but it’s not heavy or greasy. In fact, it’s perfect to use during the day (don’t limit yourself to night-time use!).

In the photo above, you can see the four eyeshadows swatched on skin. They were applied over an Etude House primer, and on the left side, they were also patted over Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy.

All in all, I think Notoriously Morbid Vanishing Cabinet March 2018 was quite good! The only thing I don’t like is Crystal Gayle Shirt because I just don’t use shadows like that very often.

Stay tuned for my review of the April edition of the Vanishing Cabinet. 🙂 You can find the February Vanishing Cabinet here.

    1. Thank you! I’m not subscribed anymore but I still have the April, May and June editions to review (the April one should be up by Sunday).
I’m definitely considering creating different looks with shadows from all these subscriptions once I’m done with the reviews. 😊
