The Body Shop Matte Lip Liquid in Nairobi Camellia

If there’s a list of brands I have never thought would come to Slovenia, The Body Shop would be among the first few. And yet, The Body Shop is here, although with only an online store for the time being. They kind gave us, bloggers, a goodie bag at the BBMU conference (and later also a small Christmas present – thank you once again!) and here’s the first TBS review of the lot!

The Body Shop Matte Lip Liquid in Nairobi Camellia

This matte liquid lipstick was a pleasant surprise. Its light formula is a dream to wear because it’s so light you forget you have anything on your lips. I’m glad it doesn’t crumble or get sticky (like Sleek Matte Me liquid lipstick in Shabby Chic). On me, it lasts for over 4 hours but it does start disappearing from the inner rims of my lips if I eat something fatty or drink a lot.

The texture of this mattle lip liquid seems rather mousse-y and not too liquidy, so it doesn’t spill over your lip line. Moreover, the formula isn’t very drying, although my lips do get dry after a few hours (like they do with most matte lipsticks). It has full coverage, even if you apply it in one normal layer.

The colour is a rather bright, warm pink that’s easy to pull off if you’re neutral or warm-toned. It can be worn in a variety of situations so it’s a safe choice. As I said, it looks warm on me but I’ve seen it look cooler on other bloggers. Skin undertones, eh?

In these photos you can see what The Body Shop Matte Lip Liquid in Nairobi Camellia looks like on me. Both pictures were taken indoors in indirect sunlight, with the second photo having white balance corrected in Lightroom. Otherwise, these photos are taken straight from the camera.

The Verdict

It’s definitely one of my favourite beauty discoveries of the year! I wasn’t aware that The Body Shop had a makeup line at all but now I’m eager to explore it.

You can buy your Matte Lip Liquid in Nairobi Camellia here for €8.90 or here for $10.00.

What you see in the pictures are Frosted Berries Body Butter (a review is coming really soon!) and Shade-Adjusting Drops – Lightening. The latter is a great product for lightening foundations that are too dark for your skin tone. Let me know if you want to read a review of this product, too! 🙂

First Impressions: Lotique, Sephora and Benefit

Hello, everyone! Today I would like to share with you my first first-impression post! I’ve recently received some of these products for free at the BBMU conference, and others were bought at Sephora. I’ve only tried them a couple of times so these reviews are by no means exhaustive but I hope they give you a general idea of how these products behave. For reference; I have combination skin (normal cheeks and oily T-zone), my skin tone falls into the NW15 range (I think), my lips tend to be dry while my eyelids tend to be oily. My eyelashes are proper divas that refuse to stay curled, they’re long and relatively thick.

Čisto na dnu te objave je razglašena tudi zmagovalka nagradne ige za Melvitino Izjemno zlato olje. 🙂

Favourite Makeup Discoveries of 2016

This post is way overdue. I’ve been having it on my mind for the longest time but sadly couldn’t post it any time sooner. In early 2016, I started using more makeup and relatives quickly found some of my favourite makeup items that I love using this year, too. Some are part of the daily rotation while others are meant for special occasions only. Any way you look at them – they’re my favourites!

Hello Waffle Lavender Cream Liquid Highlighter

This is such a versatile highlighter that I can’t help but love it. It can be very, very subtle but it can also be packed on for a very noticeable, shimmery effect. It’s cool-toned so folks with warm undertones might not appreciate it that much. However, it should work fine if used sparingly. Check my review and swatches here.

NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation

This foundation stole my heart back in February 2016 but I only started using it in November. It truly is a weightless foundation because it feels like second skin and you don’t need to apply a lot of it to achieve medium-to-full coverage. I apply three drops, tops. While it’s called luminous, I find it to be more matte but then it’s not chalky or heavy, especially if you apply it to well-moisturised skin.
