Arcana Anthropophagia

What does Anthropophagia, a popular Arcana perfume smell like? Pear? Wait, what is “anthropophagia” and what does pear have to do with it? As a non-native English speaker, I rarely come across words like this, so I first had to check out its definition: cannibalism. Okay, fine. I’ll let Arcana explain the rest:

Born out of a conversation about vices which were bafflingly left out of the seven deadly sins. To the early Catholic Church, envy was TFM, but… cannibalism? Apparently just fine. Hence this is our concept of a refreshing palate cleanser offered between courses of the ‘long pork.’ Vanilla-infused pear sorbet with sugarcane, white amber, and a drop of French cognac absolute.

Solstice Scents Review: General and Spring Collections

Thanks to the Australian retailer Femme Fatale, I had already tried a couple of Solstice Scents perfumes* when I decided to place my very first order with Solstice Scents. Boasting with an extensive library of olfactory delights, the brand sure doesn’t make the decision process easy. For my first order, I went with a couple of fan favourites, as well as some perfumes from the Spring Collection that appealed to me.

*Those perfumes were Foxcroft and Nightgown – let me know in the comments below if you want to read another Solstice Scents review!

NAVA: Vampire Chocolate Bat

Are you ready for Halloween? Yes, it’s only September but as I get older, I notice that time runs faster every year. I swear that I’ll blink with my eyes twice and it’ll be late October already. So, yes, it’s time to carve a pumpkin, take out your Halloween decorations and find a scary film to watch. The only thing that’s missing? A Halloween perfume.

In 2017, Nocturne Alchemy, or NAVA, released a perfume called Vampire Chocolate Bat. As part of a limited-edition collection, it was available for around $24 until 31 October before it disappeared. Who knows – perhaps it will return for this year’s Navalloween.

Nocturne Alchemy: Vampire Chocolate Bat

Vanilla bean fleck, Kobalt, Crystalline, Tahitian vanilla, French vanilla and a spot of vanilla-infused black patchouli, cacao, cocoa accord and dark chocolate truffle.
